What is Broadway Rush Intel?

Broadway Rush Intel is a free, community-driven analytics platform that tracks rush ticket line data across Broadway shows. While sites like bwayrush.com provide static policy information (prices, box office hours), this site provides dynamic intelligence: when to actually arrive based on historical patterns from real people who have waited in line.

The goal is simple: help you answer "What time do I actually need to get there?" with data instead of guesswork. By aggregating hundreds of community reports, we can identify patterns that no single person would notice from their own experience alone.

How the Data Works

Every data point on this site comes from publicly posted Rush Community Reporting Threads on r/Broadway. Community members voluntarily share their experiences: what show they rushed, when they arrived, their position in line, and whether they got a ticket.

We aggregate and parse this information using natural language processing to extract structured data from freeform comments. This data is then visualized to reveal patterns over time. Nothing private or non-public is used.

Methodology

Our analytics engine processes reports through several stages:

Suggested Arrival Time

Calculated from the 80th percentile of reported arrival times among people who successfully got tickets. This means the recommendation represents an arrival time that historically resulted in a ticket 80% of the time. We chose the 80th percentile rather than the median to provide a conservative recommendation, since it is better to arrive too early than too late.

Difficulty Rating

Difficulty is a composite score from two factors: how early you need to arrive (60% weight) and the reported success rate (40% weight). Shows requiring arrival before 6:30 AM with success rates below 50% are rated "Very Hard." Shows where you can arrive after 9:30 AM with high success rates are rated "Easy."

Trend Detection

We compare the average arrival time in the first half of a show's data to the second half. If people are arriving significantly earlier (15+ minutes) in recent reports compared to older ones, the show is flagged as "getting harder" (red up-arrow). The reverse indicates "getting easier" (green down-arrow). Shows need at least 4 reports for trend detection.

Data Confidence

Shows with fewer than 3 reports are flagged as "limited data." Success rates are only displayed when we have at least 3 reports with confirmed outcomes. We do not show success rates for shows where the data would be misleading.
